Design and construction of prototype of IECF to study nuclear fusion reaction
In this plan, the samples made in other countries in the world were studied and a small lab scale sample was designed and built in the Nuclear Science and Technology Research Institute and the capability of nuclear fusion reaction in that device was proved.
In this research project, the possibility of nuclear fusion reaction in inertial electrostatic confinement procedure has been studied. In this plan, the samples made in other countries in the world were studied and a small lab scale sample was designed and built in the Nuclear Science and Technology Research Institute and the capability of nuclear fusion reaction in that device was proved. This project is the first neutron generator devise based on continuous nuclear fusion function in the country. The device functions as follows; first, the device chamber is vacuumed, followed by injection of Deuterium or Tritium gases or both of them inside the chamber. After applying the electric potential differences between the electrodes, ionization occurs in 100 KV range and those particles accelerate towards the center of two spherical electrodes. As a result of such impacts, spherical dense plasma is formed in the electrode centers of the device. In this spot, due to high temperature and frequent collision of ions and the bombardments of ions and background atoms by accelerated ions, the nuclear fusion reactions take place.  As a result of the produced gas types, high energy neutrons and protons with 2 to 15 Mega electrons - Volt energy are created and emitted in all directions.
There are certain researches that could be performed as follows by using these types of devices:
1-    Production of continuous neutron source
2-    Neutron activation
3-    Generation of continuous proton source
4-    Hard X-ray continuous source
5-    Proton activation
6-    Production of medicine isotopes and radioisotopes to diagnose cancers and  treatments
7-    Study the electrical, optical andmechanical properties of solids
8-    Sterilizations of medical equipment and Removal of chemical wastes
9-    Performing common nuclear fusion reactions
