Developing a nuclear power programme is a major undertaking that involves many complex and interrelated activities with a long duration — usually about 10 to 15 years — leading up to the start of operation of the first nuclear power plant (NPP)..
This increased interest in nuclear power in a significant number of countries has prompted the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to develop a publication entitled Milestones in the Development of a National Infrastructure for Nuclear Power, and to organize, since 2009, several training events aimed at assisting countries in building the required workforce needed for a nuclear power programme.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide a platform to share knowledge and experiences related to learning and training tools used within education and training programmes in the field of nuclear power development, with an emphasis on e-learning and other forms of distance learning.
