Dr. P. Shirmardi, AEOI deputy and head of the Radiation Application Development co. paid a one day visit to the North of Iran, Gilan province, holding talks with the province governor, as well as the medical university president concerning the deployment of nuclear medical, agricultural radiation applications to further enhance the agricultural related products and pest control systems.
Dr. Shirmardi in the related comments presented emphasized on the points indicated below:
AEOI is determined to upgrade the Gilan agricultural and health products through the radiation applications.
Gilan is among the countrie's 12 prioritized regions possessing radiation site capacities in this respect. At present 30 percent of agricultural products are wasted. Using scientific radiation methods before planting and harvesting can effectively reduce wastes and affect finished costs.
Gilan enjoys excellent agricultural, strategic capacities and our aim is to develop health services and to improve product quality.
The province also holds research centers, unique human resources and strategic products, and soon to come, will access widespread services, particularly in the nuclear medical grounds. Gilan enjoys a high standard in poultry production. Radiation of poultry manure (waste) is among the most effective feed-for domestic, aquatic animals used in the world which can be considered for implementation.
At present, there are 9 PET scan systems used in the country, and considering Gilan’s strategic position and its proximity with neighboring countries, deploying PET scan (Tomography, Positron distribution) with the cooperation of Health Ministry, can contribute to the overall health tourism and environment.
Offering health packages are among the privileges of the (RADC) through presenting all types of public health provisions. We are planning, while extending further development services in the province, to turn it into as sample international center in north of Iran.
Gilan governor also on his turn, reiterated on using modern techniques particularly with regard to upgrade agricultural efficiency and fighting pest hazards.
