-Based on an Initiative by Mr. Miguel Arias Canete, European Energy Commissioner (2014-2019) and Dr. A. Salehi, President's deputy and AEOI head, a high level seminar was held between EU and Iran for further international nuclear cooperation in Brussels.

-The seminar provided an opportunity for a high ranking Iranian delegation including prominent parliamentarians, senior officials from AEOI and foreign ministry to exchange scientific and expert views with top members of European Commission and external Action Service as well as IAEO representatives on constructive peaceful nuclear cooperation.

Mrs, Helga Schmid, Secretary General of the European Action External Service in her presentation emphasized on the importance of JCPOA annex(3), while Mr. Ristori, Director General of the European Commission Energy Directorate pointed out that non-military nuclear cooperation will enhance responsible utilization of nuclear energy by countries.

The message delivered on behalf of Dr. Salehi indicated that JCPOA deal opens a framework for nuclear cooperation in the field of R-D, development of nuclear safety which all contributes towards further positive peaceful nuclear cooperation among concerned nations.

Mr. B.Kamalvandi, AEOI deputy for International, Legal and Parliamentary affairs also mentioned that further expansion of nuclear cooperation will lead to more healthy economic, industrial cooperation in the field of energy and has a political significance as well.

-The seminar highlighted an understanding with regard to the JCPOA Annex (3) particularly for specifying the framework of nuclear cooperations. The ongoing and expanding level of cooperations between E-U and Iran is very inspiring for the future. The seminar provided an excellent chance to review the latest developments in the field of nuclear treaties and conventions including safety at the national, regional and international levels and helped delegates to exchange lessons learned to better coordinate the observance of regulations mutually beneficial for all sides.

Both sides agreed to continue such bilateral cooperations and to follow up seminar results in another gathering which will be held by the end of the current Christian year in Isfahan.
